“Hello, I lost my son, a sweet and loving puppy,he’ is 7 months old, his’ name is Tonka,he’ got lost in the Monterey Park area of Calgary, if you findhim’ you can call me, thanks,” Kayla shared in the Facebook groupAlberta Missing Dogs’. Matthew Patton, 7, of Calgary, Canada, has autism, but he has found much comfort with his 7-month-old golden retriever, Tonka. “I gave Matthew a dog for Christmas because Matthew needs a companion to grow and learn with,” Angel said, according to Global News. “When Matthew is having a bad day, you bring Tonka and Matthew calms down,” Angel said. “He doesn’t talk, and he doesn’t like having a lot of people around him,” confirmed Kayla Wheeler, Matthew’s mother. “Matthew is a little boy who doesn’t ask for much,” Angel told Global News. She has many interests that keep her busy, such as trying new recipes, enjoying the outdoors, discussing funny topics, reading, drawing, observing people, making lesson plans and writing biographies. When she saw how difficult it was for Matthew, who had no speech skills, to make friends, Grandma Angel Wheeler came up with the perfect plan. There was great improvement in Matthew’s family, and Tonka soon became an important member of the family. Meanwhile, Angel and Kayla see the gravity of Matthew’s loss. On Friday afternoon, an Iowa jury found illegal immigrant Christian Bahena Rivera guilty of intentionally killing notorious college student Molly Tibbetts in 2018. “My doors were locked andhe’ just disappeared,” Kayla said. Many responsive people have provided information about found dogs similar to Tonka, but none of them were him. “Whoever took my dog, I want and hope they do the right thing,” she said.
