The UNC Chapel Hill Board of Trustees today appointed two

The UNC Chapel Hill Board of Trustees today appointed two new members to the board that oversees public radio station WUNC in North Carolina. Another seat on the WUNC board will soon become vacant as Joel Curran, UNC Chapel Hill’s vice chancellor for communications, moves to a new position at the University of Notre Dame. The UNC Chapel Hills Board of Trustees appoints seven of the nine members of the WUNC Board of Trustees. His successor at UNC Chapel Hill will also serve on the WUNC Board of Trustees. The University Board of Trustees appointed John Hood and Allie Ray McCullen and reappointed Hannah Gage and Michael Schoenfeld. Hannah Gage, former broadcast executive and former chair of the UNC System Board of Trustees, and Michael Schoenfeld, director of communications at Duke University, have been reappointed to their positions. The other two seats will be filled by WUNC’s executive director and UNC Chapel Hills’ vice chancellor for communications. The stations’ news departments are editorially independent of the administration and the university.
