We are working to combat vaccine abuse on Facebook by preventing the spread of vaccines and providing people with relevant information on the subject. For example, if a group or page administrator posts this incorrect information, we remove the entire group or page from the recommendation page, reduce these groups and page distribution in news and research channels, and reject advertisements that contain incorrect information. We investigate ways to place members of specialist agencies at the top of the list of related research results for more specific information about vaccines, on pages about the subject and on invitations to participate in groups about the subject. We also feel it is necessary to provide additional context for people to decide whether to read, share or discuss the information they see on Facebook. Major global health organizations, such as the World Health Organization and the American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, have identified publicly verifiable vaccine hoaxes.
