To excite its managers, Providence students knew that traditional classroom training would not be enough. That’s why Providence has developed a dynamic and innovative training program with Vyond and AR-App Zappar. Managers gave positive feedback on the training: 80% agreed that the PLAR scenarios facilitated understanding of the training content and helped them apply the lessons to their work, mainly because of the video’s ability to attract their attention. Providence’s learning professionals were satisfied with the good results of the PLAR training program. With this knowledge, Providence is ready to develop more PLAR video training that will lead to greater comprehension and retention than its first program. For future training programs, Providence will continue to use Vyond as part of its PLAR program. Providence used the design and delivery cycle to create this training content. During the design phase, the Providence learning team was particularly interested in using Vyond to create animated videos, as this medium was shown to be of interest to students. The tool has enabled us to create training videos quickly and at a lower cost,” says Hamilton. “The animated videos support the development of story-based learning, a proven way to improve understanding and retention of learning materials,” says Hamilton. “Managers found this new training modality very attractive and extremely content-oriented,” said Mr. Hamilton. The process begins with identifying a business need – training thousands of managers as part of Health for a Better World – and reflecting on how employees can be trained to meet that need.
