A survey of 18,000 employees of several companies showed that RWH motivated a significant number of them to move from expensive city centres to lower rental locations or to consider moving. Digital vendors and employees of WFH technology are more productive, and the opportunities and challenges of the new WFH economy are abundant. Moving to more remote areas will subtly and radically change the lives of marketers and technologists. And while telework has already become a reality for many digital marketing professionals, the future without an office will undergo significant changes such as mentoring, employee development and collaboration. For example, a major behavioral survey at Stanford, published in 2017, showed that RWD employees were significantly more productive than office workers. Interestingly, the difference of almost 30 percentage points between the beginning of exhaustion and those looking for a new job means that many people are exhausted, but do not respond with a job search. The WVH can have a significant impact on commercial real estate, urban planning, local retailers and restaurants, and many other aspects of American society and the economy, including marketing. According to a recent survey conducted by Fishbowl, a professional social network of more than 16,000 HRH staff, almost 69% said they were exhausted from working at home. Workers in the technology and advertising industries were more likely to move to a new job than their counterparts in other industries. In fact, many staff reported that they worked longer hours during the pandemic than before the pandemic. The San Francisco Bay Area is on top of the list of cities where workers want to move to cheaper pastures. Contrary to some managers’ expectations, self-employed workers are statistically more productive than in the office. However, workers sometimes report that the office is a more productive environment. Companies see it as a geographically much larger pool of talent and often look for employees in cheaper locations to save on pay.
